Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
Information Technology majors are required to complete the applicable university general education curriculum, the college and major core, and one of two currently defined concentration areas. Information Technology majors are also strongly encouraged to complete an academic minor outside the School of Computing to add breadth to their formal education..
Networking Concentration Details...
The networking concentration is designed to provide IT graduates the background to design, implement and support routed and switched internetworks for small to medium sized businesses. Students may further specialize in Network Services (formerly LAN) or Internetworking (formerly WAN). A specialization in Network Security is being developed. Articulation with Mississippi community college Computer Networking Technology (CNT) programs is supported. Networkers are encouraged to declare and complete a minor.
Developer Concentration Details...
The developer concentration is designed to provide IT graduate the background to design, implement and support standalone and client-server database-driven applications. Students may further specialize in Internet Development. A specialization in Visualization is being researched. Articulation with Mississippi community college Computer Programming Technology (CPT) and Internet Development Technology (IDT) programs is supported. Developers are encouraged to declare and complete a minor.

The academic minor in Information Security is design to provide majors a foundation in computer and information security. The minor requires 21 hours of coursework as follows:
