How to Obtain System Access
Eligibility and Limitations
To obtain access to this system you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Faculty or staff supporting the Information Technology Program at Southern Miss,
- A student currently enrolled in an ITC course for which your instructor has determined that you require access.
Users of this system are limited by the End User License Agreement (EULA) published through the Electronic License Management System (ELMS). A non-inclusive summary follows:
- MSDNAA software is for nonprofit, educational, and research use only.
- Users must agree to the Microsoft EULA. The EULA is the authoritative document.
- Users must provide a Southern Miss e-mail address that is provided by iTech in the form of their alias (i.e., first.last@usm.edu). This is provided during the admissions process and can be resolved at the iTech Customer Service Center in the Cook Union.
- Access requests are not processed during the first week of each semester. Thereafter, access requests are generally processed in 24 hours.
- User account information is provided via the Southern Miss e-mail system New accounts will receive an e-mail notification with their username and password. Renewal accounts receive no notification of change of status.
- System access priviledges may be revoked at the MSDNAA administrator's discretion.
- The MSDNAA administrator cannot interface with thousands of students. Students must request access through faculty.
Student Access Procedure
- Students must submit access requests through their faculty instructor.
- Students only need to make one request per semester, not one request per course. The online management system provides access without regard to course.
- Student accounts expire at the end of the academic semester.
- Student requests made directly to the MSDNAA administrator will not be processed. The MSDNAA administrator cannot service requests directly from students, because only your instructor can determine if access is "required" and that you are enrolled in their course.
- New user account information is provided via Southern Miss e-mail. Renewal accounts receive no notification of a change in status. (Just try to login using your previous credentials.)
Faculty Access Procedure
- Submit a request to the MSDNAA administrator via e-mail.
- Faculty accounts do not expire as long as the faculty member is working with the Information Technology program..
- Submit requests for valid student access to the MSDNAA administrator via e-mail with a text file attached listing one Southern Miss e-mail address per line. The easiest way to compile this list is to export the course roster from SOAR. Faculty are responsible for ensuring that the students are currently enrolled.
- E-mail addresses that do not conform to the requested format will not be processed.
