Majors in the Information Technology program are encouraged to participate in Co-operative education opportunities and industrial internships. These experiences provide real-world work experiences prior to graduation, help to refine individual interests and skills, and assist in obtaining full-time employment after graduation. However, Information Technology majors are not required to participate in either option.
Information Technology majors are required to complete a Senior Capstone Experience prior to graduation. A component of this requirement may be satsfied by completing a formal senior project in ITC 401 or by completing an industrial internship of not less than 300 hours in ITC 496. Senior standing is required to enroll in either ITC 401 or ITC 496.
Students should start thinking about their Senior Capstone Experience once they have attained Junior standing. Students who want to pursue the formal project option can obtain guidance from the faculty and participating personnel in industry. Student who want to pursue the internship option can obtain assistance from the University Career Services and Student Employment offices.
